NI Has Worst A&E Rates In The UK

Newly-released statistics have revealed that Northern Ireland's emergency departments have the worst waiting times in the UK.

The provisional figures, which are for the month of December last year, found that of the 56,000 people who attended an accident and emergency department, 76.7% were seen within four hours.

The figures are below the government target rate of 95%, and are also lower than stats released by health departments in England and Wales, at 90.2% and 81%, respectively. Scotland's figures are yet to be published for the month of December.

Meanwhile, at the major emergency departments in NI last month, 73.5% were seen within four hours.
