Appeal Over Distraction Burglaries, West Belfast

The PSNI is appealing for information following a series of burglaries in west Belfast at the weekend

The burglaries occurred in the Westland Road area, Lawnview Street area and Leopold Gardens area.

Just before 11:00 on Saturday 17 January police received a report of a distraction burglary at a house in Lawnview Street.

A man had called at the door and told the female resident he was there to check water pipes. The man was given access to the house but when he left, the resident realised that boxes in one of the rooms had been moved. It is not believed that anything was taken.

Then a short time later police received a report that the back door of a property in Leopold Gardens had been broke and the property ransacked. It is not believed anything was taken.

Police also received a report from a resident in the Old Westland Road area that just before 11:00 a man wanting to check water pipes had tried to gain entry to the house, but entry was not permitted by the householder.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at Woodbourne police station on the non-emergency number 101. The independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Appeal Over Hate Crime Incidents, North Belfast

Police have said two hate crimes have been carried out in north Belfast.

The first occurred just after 23:00 on Friday 16 January when a resident in the Crumlin Road area reported that the front window of her home had been smashed by a brick. A car was also heard speeding away.

Shortly after, another resident reported paint had been thrown at the front of her home, causing substantial damage.

Police have appealed to anyone with information to contact them at Tennent Street on 101. The independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111.

Shot Fired In Greggan Pub

A shot has been fired inside a pub in the Creggan area of Derry, police have said.

The incident is reported to have occurred at the Telstar Bar on Saturday at about 18:30.

There are no reports of any injuries.

Charity Bungalow Damaged In Arson Attack

A bungalow used by a charity has been damaged in an arson attack.

The attack on the property at Roemill Road in Limavady, County L'Derry, was reported to emergency services on Sunday at 07:30.

No-one was in the property at the time, which is used by the 'Be Safe, Be Well' charity.

Power tools and gardening equipment were also stolen from the house.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Appeal Following Arson Attack In South Belfast
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following an arson attack at a property in south Belfast. At approximately 10.20pm on Saturday, 13 April, police received a report of a fire at a house in the Kilburn Street area. Police attended the scene alongside the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.

Appeal Following Distraction Burglary
Police have launched an appeal following a distraction burglary in Donaghadee earlier this week. On Monday, 28th July, two men went to a property in the Ballyvester Road area at around 11am. They told a male resident at the property that they were working on telegraph poles in the area.

Man Struck By Vehicle In Belfast
A number of arrests have been made after reports that a man was struck by a vehicle in Belfast on Tuesday, 19 September. The incident happened in the Flax Street area at around 4.20pm. The man has been taken to hospital to be treated.
