Water Supplies Restored As Action Suspended

Normal water supplies have been restored to customers in west Tyrone and Fermanagh, following recent disruptions to supply in the area, according to NI Water.

The move follows the suspension of industrial action by NI Water workers, after an offer was tabled by the company yesterday.

"The Water Group of Trade Unions (WGTU) is satisfied that sufficient progress has been made to allow us to consult with our members on the offer tabled by Northern Ireland Water early this morning," a statement from the WGTU said.

"We are pleased to say that union representatives have in the mean time agreed that the industrial action can be suspended to allow for this consultation with our members to take place.

"Until such times as we can begin the consultation we will not be sharing any further detail with the media however we are aiming to provide the full detailed offer to union members as soon as possible. The immediate focus of all our members will now be to support Northern Ireland Water in restoring services to customers across Northern Ireland and in particular in the west of the province."

NI Water "welcomed" the announcement. Sara Venning, CEO, said: "This is welcome news and my continued focus is now on working with our staff to restore services to all our customers."
