Belfast Student Found Dead In Sligo

A 23-year-old student from Belfast has been found dead in Sligo.

The body of Jamie Shaw was found at student accommodation at the Clarion Village, near to the Institute of Technology Sligo, at around 4pm on Monday (23 February).

A post-mortem is due to be carried out, but his death is not being treated as suspicious.

In a statement from IT Sligo, it is understood Shaw had been feeling unwell for a few days and was confined to his apartment.

Professor Vincent Cunnane, President at IT Sligo & IT Sligo Students Union, said: "The staff and students of IT Sligo extend sincerest condolences to the Shaw family at this desperately sad time.

"The full range of the Institute's counselling and support services are being made available to Jamie's family, flatmate, classmates and friends."

No further information is available.

PSNI Appeal Following Fatal Collision In L'Derry
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following a fatal road traffic in L'Derry on Thursday, 18 April. A woman, aged in her 70s, has died in hospital following a two-car collision on the Limavady Road at approximately 4pm. The collision involved a grey Citroen C3 and blue Alfa Romeo.
