Irishman Critical Following Liverpool Attack
A 24-year-old Irishman is in a critical condition in hospital after being attacked in Liverpool city centre.
The man was found in an alleyway between Fleet Street and Seel Street in the early hours of Saturday morning. He had sustained a head injury.
Kyle Thompson, 19, of Cockerell Street, Kirkdale has been charged with assault and is due to appear in court today, Monday, according to Merseyside Police.
Detective Inspector Matthew Kerr said: "This was a nasty attack on a man who had been enjoying a night out. He sustained serious injuries as a result of the attack and is currently in a critical condition in hospital.
"We are absolutely determined to find the people responsible but we need the public's help in piecing together what happened before and after the altercation."
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed in west Belfast. The attack happened in the Hawthorn Street area at around 1.40pm on Thursday. The victim is believed to be in his 30s. A section of Hawthorn Street was closed and police examined the area. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man left in critical condition following attack
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was left in a critical condition in hospital early this morning. The man was attacked in the Old Mountfield Road area of Omagh at around 3am. A number of people were believed to have been in the area at the time, however nothing else is known about the incident.

Two questioned following stabbing
A man has been stabbed in the throat, ear and hands in a knife attack in County Down. The man, aged 27, was attacked at around 9.30pm on Sunday in the South Street area of Newtownards. He made his way to a house in Holywood and was then taken to hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

Woman And Child Escape Injury After House Attacked In East Belfast
A woman and child have escaped injury after a gang of armed men attacked their home in east Belfast. The attack happened at a house in Fashoda Street at around 8.30pm on Tuesday, 14 February. The men, armed with hammers, smashed a number of windows at the property. A mother and her daughter were not injured, the PSNI have confirmed.
