Police Appeal Following Armed Robbery In Downpatrick
Police are appealing for information after a man armed with a hammer robbed a shop in Downpatrick, County Down, on Tuesday night.
The man, dressed in a blue weatherproof hooded coat, made off with a sum of cash.
A female member of staff was not injured in the incident, however she was left shaken.
Detective Constable John Bingham said: "I would ask anyone who knows anything about this incident to contact CID at Downpatrick Police Station on the non emergency number 101."

Robber’s gun jams during Castlewellan hold-up
During an armed robbery in a County Down shop, a 19-year-old woman has had a gun held to her head and the trigger pulled several times without the gun firing. The incident occurred when a masked man brandishing a gun burst into McAnulty’s store in Castlewellan’s main street on Wednesday March 27 around 11.20pm.

Two people have been treated in hospital following an attack in County Down last night. At around 7.35pm, police were called to the English Street area of Downpatrick, following reports that a man and a woman had been seriously assaulted outside the front door of their home by two people.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
