Lisburn Security Alert Declared 'Nothing Untoward'

A security alert has been declared as "nothing untoward" after a suspicious object was found near Thiepval Army Barracks in Lisburn on Thursday morning.

Residents were evacuated from their homes and Army bomb squad experts attended the scene.

Duncans Road has now re-opened.

A security alert in Co L'Derry has ended after police declared a suspicious object to be a hoax. Army bomb experts examined the object found on the Glengalliagh Road on Thursday, 21 July, and have removed it for further examination. The road has been re-opened.

Viable Device Found In Co Tyrone
A viable device has been found following a security alert near Strabane, County Tyrone. A device was found on Ballyheather Road on Tuesday. The road has now been re-opened between the junctions of the Lisdivin Road and Clogher Road. Police and army bomb experts attended the scene.

A security alert on the M1 yesterday has ended after a suspect object was declared as "nothing untoward". Commuters yesterday afternoon and into the early evening faced long tailbacks as traffic was disrupted during the security alert.

Police have revealed that a security alert in Banbridge town centre, County Down has been declared a hoax. Army Technical Officers were called to the area after a suspicious package was discovered in the Townsend Street area of the town.

A security alert in L'Derry has now ended after it was declared an elaborate hoax. A suspicious object was discovered on the Fairview Road in the Galliagh area on Monday, 02 November. Army bomb experts attended the scene and examined the object. It follows an earlier security alert near St Columb's College.
