Postal worker in shock after hijacking

A post office worker was left badly shaken yesterday after his van was hijacked and he was held for a time by three masked men.

The incident occurred at around 6.30pm when three masked men approached the van at Carlisle Square in Belfast and forced the man in to the back of the vehicle. He was then blindfolded and tied up.

The van was driven to the Hannahstown Road in Dundrod where the van's goods were unloaded and the man was abandoned by his captors who made off.

Police responding to a road traffic collision in L'Derry last night, Wednesday 20 March, arrested two men in connection with an earlier burglary in the area. At 23:55 last night, police received a report of a collision on Gortinure Road involving a black Audi TT. The vehicle was found abandoned in a ditch.

Appeal After Masked Men Force Entry Into Home Of Elderly Man
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information after five masked me forced entry into the home of an man aged in his 70s, on the Saintfield Road. Police received a report shortly before 11.30pm on Saturday, 17th February that between 10pm and 10.30pm on the same evening, five masked men entered a house in the Saintfield Road area.

Man Jailed For Manslaughter Of David James Conville
A 31-year-old man has been jailed at Belfast Crown Court for the manslaughter of David James Conville in south Belfast in May, 2022. Edward Kelly was sentenced to serve three-and-a-half years, half of his sentence will be served in custody and half will be served on licence, following his guilty plea last November.

Man Pleads Guilty To Being Getaway Driver In North Belfast Robberies
A 39-year-old man has been sentenced to seven and half years after pleading guilty to being involved as a getaway driver in two robberies. Ross Thompson will serve three years and nine months in custody, with the remaining three years and nine months on licence.
