North Belfast Security Alert Declared Hoax

A security alert in north Belfast has been declared a hoax.

A number of homes had to be evacuated during the alert which began just before midnight at Voltaire Gardens, off the Whitewell Road, on Thursday.

Bomb disposal experts examined the suspicious object and the alert ended at around 2am.

On Tuesday night, a pipe bomb was left at a house in the same area.
