Belfast's Bikeshare Scheme Launches
Belfast's public bikeshare scheme has launched today, 27 April.
The Belfast City Council scheme, supported by the Department for Regional Development, features 300 bicycles, based at 30 docking stations located across the city centre.
Almost 1500 people have registered for the Coca-Cola Zero Belfast Bikes scheme.
Membership costs £20 for an annual subscription or £5 for a 3 day membership for visitors, tourists and casual users.
SDLP Cllr Tim Attwood said: "Whilst I did not think it would take six years to get our own bike scheme, it is brilliant that Belfast now has one. It is great for commuters, tourists and the many cycle enthusiasts in Belfast.
"I am certain that it will be just as successful as the Dublin Bike Scheme, which last week announced its 10 millionth journey. It has also seen an increase in the number of people commuting to the city by bike by 114% between 2006 and 2014, with a 14% rise last year alone."

Over One Third Of Belfast Bikes Stolen Or Vandalised
More than one third of the popular Belfast Bikes are currently out of action due to theft or vandalism, Belfast City Council have reported. Since its launch in April 2015, the scheme has almost 5,000 annual members and more than 5,000 casual subscribers, who have clocked up more than 405,000 journeys.

Phase 1 Of Connswater Community Greenway Begins
Belfast City Council has confirmed work has started at Victorian and Orangefield Parks. The work, which got underway yesterday, is part of the first phase of the Connswater Community Greenway scheme. BSG Civil Engineering Ltd, who are delivering the works, will be on site in both parks, as construction begins on the £35m project.
