Resurfacing Project To Start In Ballynahinch

A £220,000 resurfacing project in Ballynahinch is to start on Monday 8 June.

The scheme will involve the resurfacing of a 1.6km stretch the B175 Spa Road between the A24 Newcastle Road junction and the B180 Dunmore Road junction.

To facilitate the resurfacing works the road will be closed daily, from 8am - 6pm from Monday 8 June 2015 to Friday 10 July 2015, excluding Sundays.

Woman Convicted Of Benefit Fraud

A woman has been convicted for claiming benefits she was not entitled to at Belfast Crown Court.

Margaret Mongan, 41, of Ardcaoin Park, Dunmurry, claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £38,738 while failing to declare capital, savings, income and living with her partner. She was given a two year prison sentence suspended for two years.

She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

Composer Congratulated On Winning Ivor Novello Award

Culture Minister Carál Ní Chuilín has congratulated local composer David Holmes on winning an Ivor Novello Award.

The Belfast man scooped the 'Best Original Film Score' award at a gala ceremony in London. He won the award for his musical composition for the action film '71 which was set in Belfast.

Ms Ní Chuilín said: "David's success is another example of local talent excelling in the field of creative arts. Winning an 'Ivor' is a truly momentous accolade and is highly valued in the music industry, as the selection process comes totally from within the sector.

"To have been selected by fellow composers is therefore true peer recognition for David and I congratulate him on this great honour. His success is well merited and he has again helped put Belfast and the north at the heart of musical achievement."
