Road Resurfacing Project To Start In Kesh
Preparation work has started for a £90,000 road resurfacing project in Kesh.
The scheme, on the A35 Main Street, is to begin on 22 June and is expected to last for five days.
The road will be closed from 9.30am to 6pm daily, however it will be open to traffic overnight.
Diversions will be put in place.
Executive Slammed Over Its Inability To Start Development At Desertcreat
The SDLP is "fraustrated" at the Executive for its inability to begin the development of the emergency services training college at Desertcreat.
The project had relied on £53million pledged from the last British Government. The funds which needed to be used in the lifetime of the last Parliament are now unavailable rendering the future of the project unclear.
Chair of the Assembly Enterprise Committee Patsy McGlone MLA said: "The inability of some Ministers in our Executive to get projects like Desertcreat off the ground is breath-taking and utterly shameful. Their relentless dithering and indecisiveness on the project has resulted in the loss of crucial funds and it would now seem that the development is in serious trouble.
"We will hear members of our Executive lament over the financial restraints being handed down by the Tories, but here we see that even when London has put up the cash, it is the incapability of some in our Executive that caused this development to stall.
"The Executive must act now to salvage something from this shambles unless another great opportunity is squandered."
Taoiseach To Urgently Address Release Of Kingsmill Files
Ulster Unionist MLA Danny Kennedy has welcomed assurances received from the Taoiseach Enda Kenny that the legal obstacles delaying the release of files held in the Republic, to the Coroner investigating the Kingsmills massacre, will be dealt with as a matter of urgency.
Mr Kennedy said: "The Kingsmills massacre in 1976 was one of the most horrific atrocities even by the shocking standards of the Troubles. The IRA carried out a brutal sectarian massacre of ten Protestant workmen, and almost 40 years on, their families have yet to see any justice.
"I met in Dublin with Enda Kenny and I took the opportunity to raise with him the latest delay in the Inquest, which the Northern Ireland coroner has attributed to difficulties in accessing the files held in the Republic, which the Taoiseach previously promised would be made available.
"The Taoiseach assured me that the legal obstacles are being dealt with as a matter of extreme urgency and that he expects them to be cleared within days."
