Alliance Condemns Homophobic Attack In North Belfast

The Alliance Party has condemned those behind a homophobic attack on a house on Cosgrave Heights in North Belfast.

The home of Paul Finlay-Dickson, whose partner died in January from cancer, has been attacked several times over the past two years. Windows were smashed and graffiti was daubed on the walls on Saturday.

Alliance North Belfast Councillor Nuala McAllister said: "I am disgusted by those responsible for this homophobic attack. There is no place in our society for this appalling crime.

"No one deserves to be the victim of such a sustained series of attacks. I would like to send Mr Finlay-Dickson my support. The attacks on his home must stop now.

"This incident shows the need for the First and deputy First Ministers to finally publish the much delayed Sexual Orientation Strategy to prevent these sorts of hate crimes."

DARDs Fisheries Division Relocates To Downpatrick

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Developments (DARD) Fisheries Division has relocated to Downpatrick, County Down.

Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Michelle O'Neill said it is an important step in the decentralisation of civil service jobs.

From today, 8 June, Fisheries will be operating out of its new headquarters at Downshire Civic Centre in the Co Down town.

Minister O'Neill said: "I'm delighted that this first relocation project has been completed on time and on budget. This move brings our department closer to the Co Down ports of Ardglass, Kilkeel and Portavogie, which are amongst the busiest fishing ports in Ireland, with my fisheries team now at the hub of the fishing industries.

"I believe this is an ideal location for our fisheries headquarters and will deliver real social and economic improvement in rural areas while enhancing the identification of DARD with the rural community. It will also deliver an economic boost to the town as well as have the potential to attract further public sector jobs."
