Man Charged With Attempted Murder

A man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a knife attack on County Antrim.

The 18-year-old, who is due to appear in court today, has also been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault on police and other offences.

The attack occurred at a house on the Antrim Road, Glengormley, on Wednesday at approximately 11pm.

A man, 20, sustained a serious cut to his forehead.

Two men, aged 51 and 74, sustained cuts to their hands after they were chased from the property by the suspect and attacked close to a local petrol station.

Detective Sergeant John McKendry said: "We believe this incident started at an address before moving a short distance down the road to the garage. This is a busy area and we are keen to speak with witnesses or anyone with information that could assist the investigation."

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Man Arrested Over Teen Attack
A 42-year-old man has been arrested over an attack in Glengormley in which a teenager was seriously injured last weekend. The 16-year-old suffered severe head injuries in the assault which occurred on the Antrim Road at around 8pm on Saturday. A 43-year-old man previously arrested was released unconditionally.
