Attack On McGurk's Bar Memorial Condemned
Police have launched an investigation after paint was thrown on a memorial at McGurk's Bar in north Belfast.
The memorial on North Queen Street was put up in commemoration of the people killed after a bomb exploded at the bar in 1971.
Mr Maginness said: "I am disgusted and appalled at this deplorable attack on the McGurk’s Bar memorial. The attack on the memorial is an attack on the community and an insult to the memory of those who were killed and injured in 1971.
"I would encourage anyone with information on this attack to report it to the authorities. Attacks like this cause nothing but hurt to the families and brings back painful memories for those who have been fighting for justice for the past 44 years."
