Man Fined For Importing Unlicensed Erectile Dysfunction Medicines
A man from Ballymena has been convicted for illegally importing a large quantity of unlicensed erectile dysfunction medicines.
45-year-old Robert Clarke, from Brigadie Crescent,was fined £500 plus court costs, after he pleaded guilty to unlawfully importing the unlicensed prescription drugs from Hong Kong.
Ballymena Magistrates Court heard that UK Border Force had intercepted the illegal tablets destined for Clarke's Ballymena address in November 2013.
During a follow up investigation carried out by the Department of Health's Medicines Regulatory Group, it was established that Clarke had sourced the illegal medicines via the internet and had intended to sell them on online auction websites.

Dud Animal Medicines Seized In Co Antrim
Medicines Enforcement Officers have seized substantial quantities of unauthorised and illegal veterinary medicines from a residential property in Ballymena. The drugs haul, worth several thousand pounds, included veterinary antibiotics and other veterinary medicines intended for the treatment of large numbers of farm animals.

Ballymena Gym Owner Fined Over Unlicensed Medicines
Daniel O'Neill, the owner of a gym in Ballymena, has been fined £1,000 plus an offender levy after breaching Human Medicines Regulations. The 59-year-old appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court where he pleaded guilty to the offence.

At Lisburn Magistrates' Court, Nadine Poole, of Whitehill Lodge, received fines totalling £600 after pleading guilty to six charges in breach of the Human Medicines Regulations, 2012.

The Department of Health has warned against the dangers of using medicines from unregulated sources. Enforcement officials from the Department's Medicines Regulatory Group (MRG) were speaking following a two-day conference in Dublin called 'Ten Years of Combating Pharmaceutical Crime: Review and prospects'.
