Armed Man Attempts To Hijack Driver In Belfast
A man armed with a hammer attempted to hijack a delivery driver in Belfast on Friday night.
The incident occurred on Albert Street shortly after 9.30pm.
The armed man stepped onto the road in an apparent attempt to force the vehicle to stop.
The driver avoided the male and as he drove around him, the male struck the side of the van with the hammer.
Detective Sergeant Melanie McGrory said: "We are keen to hear from witnesses or anyone who was in the Albert Street area at around the time this incident took place. Detectives can be contacted at the offices of Belfast Reactive and Organised Crime in Musgrave Police station by calling 101."

Police have launched an investigation after a delivery driver was threatened at knifepoint in west Belfast. The attack happened in the Ardcaoin area of Poleglass at around 9.30pm on Wednesday, 18 July. The suspects threatened the pizza delivery driver, assaulted him, stole a sum of cash and made off.
