Building Work To Extend School In Newry Begins
Building work has started on a £1.55m extension at Rathore School in Newry.
The new extension will replace the current temporary accommodation, providing children with new facilities, including five new classrooms and a post-16 suite, as well as a parent meeting room and increased ancillary facilities.
The School Enhancement Programme (SEP) was announced in 2013 for projects costing between £500,000 and £4,000,000.

A major capital construction project is officially underway at Crawfordsburn Primary School, following an investment of over £7.3 million from the Department of Education. Education Minister Paul Givan marked the beginning of the new build by cutting the first sod at the school's existing, extended site.

A fire at a L'Derry primary school is believed to have been started deliberately. The fire at the Good Shepherd Primary School, in the Waterside area of the city, was reported shortly before 8pm on Wednesay night, 10 August.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.

Northern Ireland Education Minister, Caitríona Ruane, has given the go ahead for a new, £9m Magherafelt High School. "It is essential that while I am implementing reforms to raise educational standards we are providing the highest quality accommodation for our young people," said the Minister, (pictured).
