Appeal After Muslim Woman Assaulted In 'Hate Crime' Attack

Police are appealing for information after a Muslim woman was assaulted in Portadown on Saturday.

The incident occurred on the Gilford Road at around 4.30pm.

Police are treating the attack as a 'hate crime', which was racially motivated.

A white car began to beep the horn at the woman and the female passenger began shouting racial abuse.

The car stopped and the female passenger got out and assaulted the woman, using racist language throughout.

The victim was very distressed after the attack.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

The attack is thought to have happened in a walkway in the Johnston Park area between 1am and 3am on Sunday (30 November). PSNI: Firework Arson Attack Had Potential To Cause Tragedy
Police have said an arson attack using fireworks could have ended in tragedy this morning. Fire crews were called to a property in the Rossnareen Road area of west Belfast in the early hours of Monday 04 November. It's understood that fireworks had been set alight and in turn ignited a bin bag full of waste in the stairwell of the property.

Man Escapes Injury In West Belfast Arson
A man has escaped injury after a wheelie bin was set alight and placed at the door of his house in west Belfast. Police said the arson attack took place in Aitnamona Crescent at around 7.20am on Friday 01 November. Fire crews attended and extinguished the blaze which had caused damage to the front door and smoke damage to the inside of the house.

Pensioner attacked during burglary of her home
A 90-year-old woman was assaulted during a burglary of her home in Ballygowan, Co Down last night. The woman was confronted by a teenager after hearing noise in her kitchen. The youth then assaulted the elderly woman before escaping into an alley at the back of the house. Police believe an accomplice then joined the assailant.
