Customs initiative to help Northern Ireland businesses

Customs and Excise have announced a major local initiative to provide valuable advice and information to local businesses.

The Business Advice Open Days, sponsored by the Big Small Business Initiative, brings together a host of public and private sector business support organisations.

These will provide a wealth of free guidance and assistance to businesses whatever their size or trade sector. Experts on VAT, Importing and Exporting and other topics will be on hand to provide professional guidance and assistance.

The Open Days will cover advice and guidance for new businesses, VAT special schemes for smaller businesses, help when things go wrong, cross-border trade and what the future holds for importers and exporters.

Jim Maclean Customs’ Regional Business Head said: “We want to do all we can to make sure businesses get their tax right first time – so they can get on with doing what they do best – running their business. These events bring together all the relevant organisations so that you can find out all you need to know in one visit."

The event starts at 10am on 23 September at the City Hotel Londonderry and the King’s Hall Belfast on 25 September.
