Temporary Chair Of The Governing Body Appointed
Employment and Learning Minister Dr Stephen Farry has announced the appointment of Dr Ian Walters as Temporary Chair of the Governing Body of Belfast Metropolitan College.
Minister Farry said: "Dr Walters has been a longstanding member of the College Governing Body and I am pleased to appoint him to this role. Dr Walters has significant leadership skills which will ensure that the College will maintain its focus on the quality of teaching and learning until I appoint a permanent Chair.
"I would also like to note the achievements of the outgoing chair, Ricky O'Rawe. Mr O'Rawe has led the College through a period of significant change over the last five years, and I would like to thank him for his contribution to the College and the wider further education sector."

New Further Education Sector Takes Shape
Northern Ireland’s 16 Further Education (FE) colleges are to merge into six larger area based groupings from 1 August 2007. Minister for Employment and Learning, Sir Reg Empey, highlighted the importance of the mergers and confirmed that the number of college campuses delivering courses locally would not change as a result of these mergers.
