Security Alert In West Belfast Ends

A security alert in west Belfast has ended.

Residents in the South Link area had to be evacuated from their homes overnight following reports of a suspicious object.

A leisure centre was opened for local people to use.

Police later said "nothing untoward" was found.

The alert ended at around 4am on Wednesday.

A security alert in west Belfast has ended. Police have described the device, which was discovered in the Grosvenor Road area of the city as “viable.” A number of items have since been taken from the scene for forensic examination.

Security Alert In West Belfast Ends
A security alert in west Belfast involving an abandoned stolen car has ended, police have said. A section of the Falls Road in the west of the city had been closed from around 5.30pm on Thursday in relation to the alert. Police have said a "suspicious vehicle" was being checked, but "nothing untoward" was found.
