Investigation Launched Into Fire At Rear Of House

An investigation has been launched into the cause of a fire at a house in Magherafelt.

The female resident of a house escaped unharmed from the fire, which destroyed an oil tank, fencing and bins at the rear of the house.

Police were alerted to the fire just after 10pm on Wednesday night.

Car Damaged In Petrol Bomb Attack

Police are investigating a petrol bomb attack on a car in east Belfast.

According to reports the rear window of the cars smashed and the petrol bomb put inside.

The car was parked on St Leonards Crescent.

The motive for the attack is unclear and police have asked anyone with information to come forward.

Resurfacing Works Announced In L'Derry

Ongoing resurfacing work is to continue in L'Derry later this month, it has been confirmed. 

The £200,000 project will see the Northland Road close to through traffic. It will be closed from Crawford Square to Eden Terrace from 8am on Monday 24 August to 6pm on Saturday 29 August 2015. 

The closure is necessary to enable the final surfacing to be laid. 

A diversion route via Duncreggan Road, Strand Road, Queen's Quay Roundabout, Strand Road, Clarendon Street and vice versa will be in place for motorists. 

Following the above closure, one lane of the road will then be closed daily from 9.30am on Monday 31 August to 3.30pm on Tuesday 8 September 2015. 

This is to allow the re-setting of manhole and valve covers.

Man Arrested After Using Van To Attack Police Officers
The PSNI has condemned an incident in which a man used a van to repeatedly ram a police patrol car and attempted to run over an officer in Newry on Saturday, 03 February. Shortly after 11:20pm, officers on patrol approached a man standing beside a white Peugeot van in the Castlekeele Estate area.

PSNI Welcomes 'Positive' Crime Data Inspection Report
PSNI Assistant Chief Officer, Aldrina Magwood, has welcomed the positive findings of His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) report. HMICFRS has published its review of its inspection of crime data integrity of the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
