New Bus Lanes Operational
New bus lanes between Sandown Road and Knock Road in east Belfast come into operation today (Monday).
The lanes, part of the Belfast Rapid Transit (BRT) scheme, will operate, city-bound and country-bound, during peak hours only from 7:30am to 9:30am and from 3:30pm to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday, to provide improved reliability for existing bus services.
A DRD spokesperson said: "Each new measure that supports our bus services helps to promote public transport and provide an attractive travel alternative for the public. These additional bus lanes will help to provide a more reliable service which will benefit the increasing number of bus passengers choosing to use this route."
14-Year-Old Critical After Accident In Co Down
A 14-year-old girl remains in a critical condition in hospital after being knocked off her bike on Saturday.
The girl was knocked from her bicycle at about 17:30 on the Aghnatrisk Road in Culcavy near Hillsborough.
The girl was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital with leg and head injuries.
Police are appealing for information.
Inspector Jim McGrillen said: "We would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident involving the cycle and the Audi car, or saw them on the road beforehand. The incident occurred about a mile from the Culcavy Road/Harry's Road junction.
"Please call Lisburn station on the 101 non-emergency number and the quote the reference 990 of 8 August."
Rider Named In Ulster Grand Prix Death
The rider killed on Saturday at the Ulster Grand Prix has been named as Andy Lawson (24), from Arbroath, Scotland.
Mr Lawson died during the second Supersport race on 08 August. It is understood that it was his first time at the grand prix in Dundrod.
An investigation by the PSNI, Motor Cycle Union of Ireland and Dundrod & District Motorcycle Club into what happened is underway.

Belfast City Centre Bus Lane Scheme Criticised
The SDLP said it is "seriously concerned" after a city centre bus lane scheme in Belfast has left motorists confused. In Great Victoria street, one signpost contains two signs which have led to confusion, however motorists are still being fined.

New bus lanes have been opened in east Belfast as part of the Belfast Rapid Transit (BRT) scheme. The new bus lanes, located between Sandown Road and Knock Road, will be introduced on 10 August.
