Council To Commemorate VJ Day
Belfast City Hall will be lit up in red on Saturday, 15 August, to mark VJ Day.
The Big Screen on the front lawn will also be showing highlights of commemorations in London.
The times of the BBC coverage will be 10.30am to 12.15pm and 1pm to 3.30pm.
Belfast City Council is also renewing its call to find WW II veterans from Belfast to be VIP guests at a civic lunch in September.
The event will commemorate the 70th anniversary of the ending of the Second World War.

Belfast City Council has announced a series of free events at City Hall on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 May to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day. Tickets for the events will be available from 9 am tomorrow (Wednesday 23 April) via the Visit Belfast website or by calling 028 9024 6609.

BCC Leader Questions Funding Of West Belfast Festival Over 'Pro-IRA Singing'
The DUP leader of Belfast City Council has questioned the funding of West Belfast Festival over alleged "pro-IRA singing" at one of their events. Councillor Ald Brian Kingston raised the issued after it was alleged that the crowed at a concert at the Festival chanted "ooh ah up the Ra".

Marathon To Run On Bank Holiday
In spite of pressure from various sides, the 2011 Belfast City Marathon will not be held on a Sunday. It was agreed at a City Council meeting this week that it would continue on May Day, after over plans to move the race from its traditional May Day Bank Holiday to the prior Sunday were opposed.
