Call For Shankill Bomber's Early Licence To Be Revoked
TUV leader Jim Allister has written to the Secretary of State asking him to revoke the early licence of Shankill bomber Sean Kelly.
Mr Kelly was arrested in connection with the recent murder of former IRA prisoner Kevin McGuigan in the Short Strand area.
In his letter to the Secretary of State Theresa Villiers he said: "Given there had to be reasonable suspicion to enable him to be arrested, it is surely necessary that you examine whether he remains eligible under the scheme for release.
"This is a matter of great public importance and confidence. I trust you will act decisively and effectively."
DUP MP Nigel Dodds said: "Sean Kelly was handed nine life sentences for the Shankill Bomb. He was a mass murderer and should never have been released from prison in the first place. His early release, along with the others at that time, was a corruption of justice. I will be writing to the Secretary of State asking for an assurance that anyone who is in breach of their release license will have it revoked. There must be a clear message sent that no involvement in terrorism will be tolerated."
Mr Kelly was questioned by the police however he has been released without charge.
