L'Derry Arts Scene 'Vibrant And Flourishing'
The arts scene in L'Derry has been described as "vibrant and flourishing", by Culture, Arts and Leisure Minister, Carál Ní Chuilín.
Minister Ní Chuilín made the comments following a visit to a number of arts projects across the North West, including Playhouse Theatre and the Verbal Arts Centre.
"The arts scene in Derry is vibrant and flourishing and I am delighted to see how City of Culture legacy funding is helping local people get involved in all kinds of artistic and cultural activity," Minister Ní Chuilín said.
Non-Executive Director Appointed To BHSCT
Health Minister Simon Hamilton has announced Miriam Karp, as the new Non-Executive Director to the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust (BHSCT).
Ms Karp will begin the role on 01 September for a period of four years.
This appointment was made in accordance with the Code of Practice issued by the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland. A selection panel, which included an Independent Assessor, as required under the Commissioner’s Code, considered the suitability of all candidates. The final decision on the appointment rested with the Minister.
Play Park Fire Investigated
An investigation has been launched into the cause of a fire at a play park in Carrickfergus.
It is understood that a trampoline was set alight at the Pirate Ship Park shortly after 21:00 on Thursday.
Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said that the fire was dealt with quickly and they the incident is being treated as "deliberate".

Crescent Arts Centre Restoration Complete
The newly refurbished Crescent Arts Centre in Belfast has been re-opened, following an 18-month restoration project. The £7.2m scheme involved a refurbishment and restoration, which has preserved the exterior façade of the Grade II listed building. The refurbished centre includes an extension that increases the accommodation by approximately 900m2.

The newest details of the L’Derry City of Culture events programme have been revealed by the Arts Council in Northern Ireland. The news follows an investment of £1m in 18 new arts projects.
