Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud

A man has been convicted for claiming benefits he was not entitled to at Belfast Magistrates' Court.

Aktar Hussain, 44, claimed Jobseekers Allowance totalling £3,167 while failing to declare employment. He was fined £100 and ordered to pay an offenders levy of £15.

He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

Community Groups In Fermanagh Secure Funding

Two community groups in Fermanagh have secured funding for the Department of Environment's (DOE) Challenge Fund.

The funding has been allocated to Lough Erne Wildfowlers Council and Devenish Partnership Forum.

Lough Erne Wildfowlers Council's project will see a breeding wader project on Boa Island, while the Devenish Partnership Forum in Enniskillen will create a wild flower area and expand an allotment site.

Environment Minister Mark H Durkan said: "It is tremendous to see people in Fermanagh coming together to produce innovative schemes to enhance their local environment. I commend the many volunteers for it.

"Recently I announced that 33 community groups across the North were successful in attaining Challenge Funding for their projects. Four groups in Fermanagh have been successful."

Security IT Training Academy Launches

The second WhiteHat Security IT Training Academy has launched.

Following the announcement last December that WhiteHat Security was creating 80 jobs in Northern Ireland, WhiteHat have been recruiting throughout 2015 and the Academy will provide 12 individuals opportunities in Internet Security.

The Academy has been designed by the Department for Employment and Learning (DEL), WhiteHat Security and Belfast Metropolitan College (Belfast Met). The successful candidates will undertake an intensive five week training programme on web application security vulnerabilities. For successful candidates there is a potential offer of employment with WhiteHat Security based in their Belfast offices.
