Police Appeal To Trace Man Following Armagh Shootings

Police in Newry are appealing for help to trace a man following two shooting incidents in the area on Thursday, 17 September.

Two 32-year-old males were shot in the leg in Sandys Road and Armagh Road, and police believe they "may be linked".

Detective Inspector David Henderson said: "We believe this man was in the area of Armagh Road when the shooting there occurred. He is described as being approximately 6ft 3in/4in tall, aged in his twenties, of muscular build with a sallow complexion and tightly cut blonde hair (possibly dyed). This man is believed to be Eastern European."

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Police Cancel Appeal For Missing Omagh Man
Police have said they believe missing Omagh man, Shane Sharkey, has been found in the Republic of Ireland. A police appeal for help in finding the 35-year-old has been cancelled, with police saying they now believe they know where he is. No further details have been released but police thanked the public for their help.

Man questioned about 1988 murder
A man has been arrested in connection with police inquiries into a murder in 1988. The body of Lily Smyth, 66, was found in her flat at Moveen House in Dunmurry on October 9, 1988. The pensioner had been strangled. A police spokesperson said that a 43-year-old man had been arrested and is being questioned at Antrim Police Station.

Bangor murder linked to a loyalist drug feud
Security forces have indicated that the shooting of a man in Bangor last night could have links with a loyalist feud over drugs. The man was shot dead outside a house at Ballyrobert Road at around 10.40pm last night. Police believe two gunmen were involved in the attack and that they made off on foot towards the main Bangor to Belfast Road.

£250k Drugs Seized In Larne
Some £250,000 worth of suspected drugs have been seized in Larne, Co Antrim. Officers from the PSNI's Organised Crime Branch discovered the cocaine, amphetamine and herbal cannabis during a search of a property on the Browndod Road yesterday, Thursday 20 February.

Serious Road Crash In L'Derry
A serious road crash has occurred on the Chapel Road in L'Derry. A car and a motorbike where involved in the incident, according to the police. One man, believed to be a teenager, has been taken to hospital where his injuries are believed to be serious. The road has been closed at its junctions with Newlyn Terrace and Spencer Road.
