Schools To Highlight Dangers Of Concussion

Lesson plans for schools to highlight the dangers of concussion have been launched.

The new web-based resources, which are available in English and Irish, are aimed at Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 4 and provide information and activities to help equip pupils with the knowledge they need to recognise the signs and potential dangers of concussion.

The lesson plans which include information for both teachers and pupils, are presented as pupil activities and assist in raising the awareness of concussion and how pupils should respond to protect their own and other's health.

Appeal For Information Following Aggravated Burglary In Newtownabbey
Police have issued an appeal for information following an aggravated burglary in Newtownabbey last night, Monday 24 September. Making the appeal, Detective Constable Woods said: "We received a report around 9:25pm that four masked men, one armed with what is believed to have been a crowbar, forced entry to a house in the Abbeyville Park area.

Appeal For Information On Armed Robbery In Maguiresbridge
Police have issued an appeal for information following an armed robbery of a house in the Gardiners Cross Road area of Maguiresbridge on Friday 21 September. Shortly after 9pm four masked men, armed with knives, entered a house and threatened the male occupant, before tying him up and making off with a sum of money and two mobile phones.

Appeal For Information On 'Paramilitary Style Attack' In L'Derry
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following the report of a paramilitary style attack in the Ballymagroarty area of L'Derry on Friday, 31 August. A man, aged in his 60s, was shot in the leg in what police have described as "a paramilitary-style attack".

Coalisland Shooting Condemned
Political representatives have hit out after shots were fired at a house in Coalisland, County Tyrone, this morning. Police have appealed for information and said the shooting, which occurred in the Loughview Gardens area at around 4am on Monday 01 July, was an "appalling attack".

Teen Knocked Off Bike In Hit & Run
A teenage boy was knocked off his bike yesterday, 27 June, by a driver who failed to remain at the scene in County Antrim. Police said a white car was involved in the incident on the Coast Road in Ballygally at around 4.30pm. A 14-year-old was knocked off his bike in what is being investigated as a hit and run.
