Two Men Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
Two men have been convicted for claiming benefits they were not entitled to at at Dungannon Magistrates' Court.
Paul McGuckin, 50, claimed Income Support and Rates totalling £2,954 while failing to declare employment. He was given 200 hours community service.
Joseph Devlin, 25, claimed Jobseekers Allowance totalling £2,450 while failing to declare employment. He was given 200 hours community service.
Both are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
Demolition Work Starts On Derelict Building in Cookstown
Demolition work has started on a derelict building in Cookstown.
As soon as the development has been demolished, construction work will start for the new Rivers Agency headquarters at the Loughry Campus.
Rural Development Minister Michelle O'Neill said: "It is in an ideal location with good access to the motorways and key routes and will, with the wider DARD relocations scheme, go some way towards addressing the redistribution of public sector jobs across the north. I am confident the local people will also see and feel the benefits these jobs with bring to their economy and community."
Work is expected to be complete in autumn 2016.
New Road Safety Initiatives Announced
Environment Minister Mark H Durkan has announced a number of new road safety initiatives.
The initiatives include 15 new grant aided projects and two social media campaigns regarding the dangers of drink driving and the use of mobile phones while driving.
Minister Durkan said: "Road traffic collisions and their devastating consequences hit right at the core of our communities. Government works hard to inform road users of the problem issues in order to help them make good choices when using the road.
"But government can't succeed on its own and I recognise the valuable part the voluntary and community sector plays in helping us work towards reducing death and injury on our roads."

Work Starts On Road Improvement Projects In Co Armagh
Contractors have started work on £170,000 road improvement projects in Tandragee, Co Armagh. The schemes are taking place at Irish Street Richhill and Gilford Street. They involve the resurfacing of 1km of roads and where appropriate the reinstatement of footways and verges. To facilitate the schemes, temporary road closures will be in place.
