Portadown Pupils Attacked During School Trip In Manchester
A group of schoolchildren from Northern Ireland have been assaulted by a gang of youths during a school excursion to Manchester.
Up to 10 teenage pupils from Portadown College were attacked and some had to receive hospital treatment.
No-one was seriously injured in the incident.
Their parents have been informed and Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation.
Education Minister John O'Dowd said: "I am saddened to learn that a group of our young people have been attacked and injured during a school trip to Manchester. I understand that some pupils required hospital treatment and my thoughts go out to those that have been hurt during this incident. My Department are on hand to provide help and advice to the school should they require it."

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.
