European trade delegation arrives in province

A European trade delegation has arrived in the North West today to take part in a two-day familiarisation visit to Northern Ireland.

The trade commissioners, from Austria, Croatia and Lithuania, visited Londonderry on the first day of its trip as a follow-up visit to the seminar, 'Doing Business in Northern Ireland' hosted in March of this year by the Austrian Embassy in London.

The visit coincides with a 'Get Wise to Europe' week being coordinated by the NI European Commission Office with assistance from the Londonderry Chamber of Commerce and Derry City Council.

During their visit, the delegates will visit the University of Ulster at Magee and will receive briefings from Invest NI, the NI European Commission Office, ILEX Urban Regeneration Company, and the Economic Development Section of Derry City Council.

They will also look at neighbourhood regeneration projects and meet with local businesses at a networking event organised in conjunction with Invest NI and North West Marketing.

The visit has been organised by Derry Investment Initiative and Investment Belfast, the investment promotion arms of Derry City Council and Belfast City Council and is the first time a joint economic development initiative has been undertaken between the two Councils.
