Special needs pupils relocated after classroom fire
Special needs children at a school in Co Down are set to be relocated after a mobile classroom was destroyed in a fire at the weekend.
Police are treating the fire at Crossgar Primary School, Co Down, as malicious after a bin was set alight and pushed against the building in the early hours of Sunday morning. The cost of replacing the damaged classroom is estimated to be around £50,000.
The blaze destroyed the school's entire library, in addition to reading schedules, numeracy schedules and literary schemes.

The Government has confirmed that an extra £79 million is to be pumped into local classrooms next year. Announcing details of a financial settlement for schools and Education & Library Boards for 2005/06, Education Minister Barry Gardiner said that funding for schools will increase by over 9% next year.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

A classroom with educational equipment for a child with special needs was damaged when six devices were thrown at a County Tyrone school, police have revealed. However, it is not thought the attack at Strabane Grammar School was sectarian.
