Bombardier Announces 60 Job Losses

Engineering firm Bombardier has announced it is to cut a further 60 jobs in Northern Ireland.

The company said it is cutting up to 60 agency workers from the complementary labour force.

Regional Coordinating Officer Davy Thompson said the jobs losses are another blow for the manufacturing sector.

He said: "This announcement highlights the scale of the ongoing challenges facing the sector.

"Not enough is being done to ensure that the jobs currently being lost in this sector are replaced with jobs of a similar standing. Unite will be holding a rally in Ballymena, an area that has been ravaged by closures and job losses, on Saturday 6th February to offer our members, young people and the local community an opportunity to vent their frustrations against what they see as a total failure of Stormont to introduce a relevant and cohesive approach to manufacturing within Northern Ireland."
