Prayer Service Held After Young Girl Dies In House Fire

A prayer service has been held after a young girl died in a fire in Co Down.

Ellen Finnegan, 19, died in a fire at her home in Castlewellan in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Ellen had been a pupil at Assumption Grammar School where the service was held.

The school released a statement which said: "It is with great sadness that we share the news of the death of our 6th year student, Ellen Finnegan. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ellen's family and friends at this very sad time."

Over 20 firefighters attended the scene and the fire is not being treated as suspicious.

School Workers To Consider Further Strike Action
School workers in Northern Ireland are to consider further industrial action, in an ongoing dispute over pay. The GMB Union, which represents more than 3,000 classroom assistants, kitchen staff, bus drivers, cleaners, admin workers and others, met with Education Minister Paul Givan at Stormont on Tuesday, 20 February.
