Two Students Killed In Co Armagh Crash Named

Two students who died in a crash in County Armagh on Thursday have been named.

Andrew Gass and Mark Hutcheson were killed after the vehicle they were travelling in hit a tree on the Cladymilltown Road between Markethill and Newtownhamilton.

The two 17-year-olds were students at the Southern Regional College in Armagh.

A third male was also injured, however he is believed to be in a stable condition in hospital.

In a statement, the school's principal, James Maxwell, said: "Both boys were popular, well-mannered and respected members of the school community who demonstrated passion and commitment towards all aspects of school life.

"I have no doubt in my mind that both boys had great futures ahead of them and they will be remembered with fondness for their great generosity of spirit."

Ulster Unionists Danny Kennedy MLA, said: "This is a terrible tragedy and I offer my sincere sympathy to the families and friends of those involved. I have no doubt that the local community will support the families in every way, and they will be in the thoughts and prayers of everyone at this sad and very difficult time."

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.
