Man Arrested After Man's Body Found In Co Antrim

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a man was discovered at a house in Co Antrim.

Emergency services were alerted to the Broombeg View area in Ballycastle at around 8.30pm on Thursday.

Police launched a murder investigation after the body of a 48-year-old man was found.

Sinn Féin Councillor Cara McShane said: "This was a brutal killing. It took place in a residential area of the town and at a time of the evening when people would still have been going about their daily business.

"The community here is shocked and saddened at this tragic incident.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the victim's family and to everyone who has been impacted.

"I would urge people who have information to pass it on to the PSNI urgently."

Three arrested in connection with County Down robberies
Three men have been arrested following a spate of crimes in County Down. In the first incident, three men, dressed in grey hooded tops and baseball caps entered a house in Castlewellan at around 11.30pm last night. One of the men held a female occupant down while the others demanded her car keys. They then made off in the woman's Volvo car.

An Alliance MLA has issued a call for support for the police following a shooting in Comber. The gun attack on Sunday night, 15 March, is being treated as attempted murder. A man in his 50s had driven into a yard in the Ballycreely Road area of the town when a masked man armed with a suspected handgun emerged from a hedge.

Elderly Man Suffers Smoke Inhalation In Co Down Arson
A man aged in 90s was left in need of treatment for smoke inhalation after two arson attacks in Downpatrick. Police are probing a link between two deliberate ignitions in the Killough Walk and Vianstown Heights area of the town, less than a mile from each other, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Three Arrests As £300k Drugs Seized
Police say they have removed drugs worth over £300,000 from the streets of west Belfast. Three men, aged 33, 37 and 43 were arrested and a car was seized along with a further quantity of suspected class A and C drugs, cash and drug paraphernalia.

Man Arrested For Murder Following Carrick Body Find
A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, after a woman's body was found in Carrickfergus. The body of the 29-year-old woman was found in a house in the Pattersons Row area of the Co. Antrim town around 6pm on Tuesday. Police are continuing to question the 38-year-old man on suspicion of murder.
