Hundreds Of Mourners Attend Funeral Of Mark Farren

Hundreds of mourners have attended the funeral of Derry City football player Mark Farren.

Mark, 33, died after being diagnosed with brain cancer six years go.

The funeral was held at St Mary's Church in Ballybrack today, 05 February.

SDLP Foyle MP Mark Durkan said: "Today's funeral showed the deep sadness there is at the loss of a young man who brought so much happiness to others through his skills and dedication.

"Mark Farren was inspired and inspirational on the pitch and showed the same spirit and determination in his battle with cancer.

"The loss of a young legend is not just felt by the football family or greater sports fraternity but right across a community that admires his prowess, modesty, fight and heroism.

"I hope that Mark's family can take comfort and encouragement from the breadth and depth of sympathy which has been so widely expressed following his very sad death."
