Road Improvement Scheme To Start In Omagh
A £340,000 road improvement project is to start in Omagh.
The scheme on the A32 Clanabogan Road is to begin on Monday 22 February.
The resurfacing scheme will extend for over 1.3miles and work is expected to be finished on Friday 11 March.
Transport Minister Michelle McIlveen said: "This is a significant investment in the roads network in the Omagh area. The scheme will improve the structural stability, running surface and overall safety of this very important trunk road between Enniskillen and Omagh."
Diversions will be put in place.
DUP Accused Of Using Spin Over Failure To Deliver On Job Creation
The DUP has been accused of using spin to mask their failure to deliver on their pledges of job creation in Fermanagh and South Tyrone.
More than half of the jobs announced by Minister Jonathan Bell in the constituency are already in place.
SDLP Erne North Councillor and Fermanagh and South Tyrone Assembly Candidate Richie McPhillips, said: "Minister Bell's announcement that he will be creating 74 jobs in Fermanagh and Omagh is completely disingenuous when in reality over half of these jobs already exist. It is part of the DUP’s strategy of smoke and mirrors when it comes to job creation.
"It would seem that the DUP are more interested in getting applause for announcing jobs rather than ensuring they are delivered for the people of Fermanagh and South Tyrone. Were it not for the hard work of indigenous business owners there would be very little in the way of employment at all. We need to encourage real opportunities that have been created by companies like the Aventas Group and Fisher Engineering."
Seatruck Ferries Given Conditional Discharge For Pollution Offence
Seatruck Ferries Ltd has pleaded guilty and been given a Conditional Discharge for two years at Newry Magistrates' Court for a pollution offence.
On 22 October 2014, the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) received a report of a spill of heavy fuel oil into Warrenpoint Harbour from the vessel, Seatruck Panorama.
On 23 October 2014 Inspectors attended the scene to examine areas of Carlingford Lough for oil contamination. The presence of heavy fuel oil was confirmed along the shoreline between Warrenpoint Harbour and Narrow Water Castle. This was a classified as a high severity pollution incident that impacted more than 3km of Carlingford Lough.
A sample of oil was taken from Carlingford Lough. Inspectors remained on site at Narrow Water Castle to supervise the clean-up operation.
