Nine Arrested In Connection With Heroin Supply In Portadown

Nine people have been arrested as part of a police operation against the supply of heroin in the Portadown area.

Police arrested eight men and one woman on Monday.

The suspects have been taken to Musgrave Police Station for questioning.

A number of searches were also conducted in the area.

Ulster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson said: "This operation was the culmination of months of painstaking and coordinated work by various branches within the PSNI to combat the supply of heroin and other drugs across the district.

"I have spoken with the PSNI Command Centre this morning and wish to commend Superintendent David Moore and his team on taking significant action to remove from our streets those who deal in death.

"Information on drugs is crucial to the fight against its supply and I would encourage anyone who may have any information, no matter how unimportant they may feel it is, to contact the PSNI to help continue to bring this fight to the doorsteps of those ultimately responsible."

Man Released Over Jim Donegan Murder

The 42 year-old was questioned at Musgrave Serious Crime Suite on Thursday, 23 January before being released later that same day. Mr Donegan was gunned down in west Belfast as he waited to collect his teenage son from school on 04 December 2018.

Suspect Arrested Over Spate Of North Belfast Burglaries
Police have arrested a suspect after a spate of burglaries in north Belfast that saw one local resident threatened with a kitchen knife. Three properties in the Grays Lane area were targeted on Tuesday night, 21 January.

East Belfast Shooting Condemned
A shooting in the Short Strand area of east Belfast has been condemned as a "despicable" act. Police said a man walking in the area was shot at around 7.45pm on Saturday 25 January. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The incident in a busy built up area sparked outrage in the local community.
