Griffner Coillte To Create 250 Jobs In Mullingar

A new manufacturing facility in Mullingar - which is set to provide 250 jobs when in full production - has been officially opened by Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, Dermot Ahern TD.

Griffner Coillte is a joint venture between GriffnerHaus AG of Austria and Coillte, the State forestry company, and has been set up to design, manufacture and market premium modular buildings.

Dermot Ahern described the opening of the 60,000 sq foot factory as an important development because it represented a new era in the development of innovative and energy efficient construction methods.

Commending the project partners GriffnerHaus and Coillte on this initiative, the Minister said: "Sustainable, energy efficient housing plays an important role in meeting the challenge of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Adoption of energy efficient building systems is one way in which every citizen can contribute to these goals."

The launch of the 60,000 square foot factory was attended by public representatives, clients, leading architects and builders and staff of the joint venture from Ireland and Austria.

Griffner Coillte has been designing and marketing houses in Ireland since 2002. Among the projects completed to date are houses in Galway and Dublin while projects currently underway include Coillte offices in Newtownmountkennedy, Co. Wicklow (designed by "About the House" architect Duncan Stewart) and houses and apartments in Dublin, Tipperary Waterford and Galway.
