Derry firm up for £10,000 UK Enterprise Award
A local firm in Derry has been shortlisted for the final of the forthcoming Enterprising Solutions Award, which celebrates the best social and community enterprises in the UK.
Creggan Enterprises Limited is the only firm from Northern Ireland to be nominated for the £10,000 award which takes place in London later this month.
Established in 1991, the company is a community-led organisation determined to be a catalyst for change within Creggan, Bogside and surrounding areas. Its aim is to build a viable, sustainable and successful community by creating opportunities and conditions for local economic and social development.
Now in its fifth year, the awards mark the achievements of a growing sector that includes local community enterprises, social firms, mutual and non-profit distributing organisations.
Nigel Griffiths, UK Minister for Small Business and Enterprise, will announce the overall winner of the Award at an evening reception on 28th October held at Royal Bank of Scotland & NatWest’s London headquarters.
The four other nominee finalists are Impact Community Developments, Bradford; Green Works, London; Pack-IT Product Promotions, Cardiff; and Shared Interest Society Limited, Newcastle.

Quesnele To Join Belfast Giants For 2016/17 Elite League Season
Michael Quesnele is to join the Belfast Giants for the 2016/17 Elite League season. The Canadian holds Italian Citizenship and takes the Giants final EU spot on the lineup. He spent the 2015/16 season with the Coventry Blaze, where Quesnele posted nine goals and 16 assists, good for 25 points in 60 games played.

Ravenhill parking problems to be 'tackled'
Police have said they are confident in 'tackling' parking problems in and around the home of Ulster rugby. With up to 12,000 fans expected to descend on Ravenhill nearly every second Friday during the forthcoming season, the parking issue is one of huge concern for local residents.
