Man Shot Outside Primary School In Craigavon

A man is in a stable condition in hospital after he was shot outside a primary school in Craigavon, Co Armagh.

The attack happened near St Brendan's Primary School in the Moyraverty area at around 3pm on Monday.

Police believe a black BMW 525 Sport, registration number JIG 8111, which was found on fire in Deramore Drive may be linked to the shooting.

Chief Inspector Jon Burrows said: "We are very keen to trace the movement of this car this afternoon. If you noticed this vehicle or have any information in relation to the shooting, please contact us in Lurgan on 101.

"There are no words to describe the foolhardiness and complete disregard for the safety of the children and parents who were in the area at the time. If you have information, please phone us on 101."

Sinn Féin MLA John O'Dowd said: "This shooting outside St Brendan's Primary School in the Moyraverty area of Craigavon was wrong and I totally condemn it.

"This was a terrifying experience for pupils and staff at the school.

"Those who carried out this shooting showed absolutely no regard for the pupils, their parents, school staff and the wider community.

"There can be no place for guns in our society."
