Man Arrested Over 1987 Murders

Police have arrested a man in Belfast as part of an investigation into the murders of two police officers almost 30 years ago.

Detective Constable Michael Malone, 35, and Ernest Carson, 50, were shot in an IRA gun attack at the Liverpool Bar in Donegall Quay on 26 August 1987.

Another officer and a civilian were also injured in the attack.

The 54-year-old suspect is being questioned at a police station in Belfast.

Detective Inspector Stuart Griffin said: "Although these murders happened a long time ago, police would continue to appeal to anyone with information about the shooting and those involved to come forward."

Software as a service (SaaS) technology firm Futrli is to bring 80 new jobs to Belfast with a £5.5 million investment. The roles will be predominantly in operations and software engineering and will be filled over the next three years, seeing the UK based firm more than doubling its headcount and almost £2.5 million generated in annual salaries.
