Two Women Dragged From Car In Co Antrim

Two women have sustained minor injuries after being dragged from a car in Lisburn, Co Antrim.

The incident happened in the Bensons Road area just before 10pm on Tuesday.

A black Peugeot 208 car which was parked in a layby with two female occupants, was hit from behind by another vehicle.

A number of men exited the second vehicle and pulled the two females from the Peugeot and drove off in their car.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

SDLP Lagan Valley Assembly Candidate Pat Catney said: "I was completely stunned when I heard of this incident. The manner in which the criminals first purposefully crashed their car and forcibly removed the passengers must have been utterly terrifying.

"The actions of these criminals are beneath contempt. They showed no regard for the physical or emotional trauma they may have caused to their victims.

"It is a sad that the public are still targeted in this way. The entire community are rightly outraged and must now unite against these thugs. We must remain vigilant, look out for each other and work with the police to take these criminals off our streets."
