Pensioner dies after being hit by car

A pensioner has died after being hit by a car in Co Fermanagh last night.

The 72-year-old woman was walking along Wellington Road in Enniskillen when she was hit by the vehicle on Tuesday night.

SDLP representative for Fermanagh, Tommy Gallagher expressed his shock at the death and conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved family.

"All my heart goes out to the family and friends of the victim. No words of sympathy can console them in their loss," he said.

"How much longer will this go on? I appeal to all those on the roads, be they pedestrians, passengers or drivers to be alert to the great dangers of driving and to exercise their utmost caution."
