Farmer Receives Suspended Sentence For Animal Cruelty Charges
A Co Antrim farmer has been convicted of a number of animal cruelty charges.
46-year-old James Steele from Glenavy, Co Antrim, was sentenced to five months imprisonment suspended for three years at Antrim Magistrates' Court.
He was sentenced on six charges of causing unnecessary suffering to bovine animals, two charges of failure to dispose of animal carcases, one charge of failure to comply with an animal by-product requirement and one charge of using an ear tag to identify an animal which had already been used for identifying another animal.
Mr Steele also received a two-month sentence suspended for three years in respect of the cattle ear tag charge.
The sentences will run concurrently.
A deprivation order with immediate effect for five years was granted under the Welfare of Animals Act (NI) 2011.

The Gobbins To Benefit From £13.6m Investment
Mid and East Antrim Council has welcomed the news of new investment funding of almost £13.6 million for the development of The Gobbins. Ambitious plans for The Gobbins include a 60m-high panoramic stepway, upgrades to the clifftop path, the development of a new Welcome Hub, and improved visitor features.

Man And Woman Jailed For 'Brutal And Senseless Attack'
The PSNI have welcomed the sentencing of two people at Laganside Crown Court for a range of offences including grievous bodily harm with intent, threats to kill, common assault and possession of an offensive weapon. 26-year-old Dylan Black, from the Lisburn area, was sentenced to seven years in prison. He will serve three years on license.

The Department for Communities (DfC) has reminded landlords that registered in January, February and March 2021 to renew their registration if they're still a landlord. In February 2014, the Landlord Registration Scheme was introduced and each period of registration lasts for three years.
