Man Seriously Attacked In Co Down

A man has been seriously attacked in Bangor, Co Down.

The assault happened in the High Street area at around 1.40am on Sunday.

The 45-year-old victim sustained a serious head injury and is believed to be in a stable condition in hospital.

Detective Sergeant James Johnston is appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact the police in Bangor on 101.

Alliance North Down Assembly candidate Stephen Farry said: "People will be shocked to hear about this vicious assault," said Mr Farry.

"It was a brutal attack and I condemn it utterly. I hope the man makes a full and swift recovery."

A further three men have been arrested after three people were injured in a stabbing incident in Lurgan. Emergency services attended the scene at a graveyard near the North Circular Road on Monday, 12 February. Several people are believed to have been involved. Man Seriously Injured After Being Attacked With Iron Bar
A man has been left seriously injured after he was beaten with an iron bar in Coleraine. The attack happened after two men broke into a house at Glebe Avenue on Monday night. The 46-year-old victim is currently in hospital. Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was seriously attacked in Toomebridge, Co Antrim. The assault happened outside licensed premises on the Hillhead Road at around 2am on Sunday. The man sustained a serious head injury and is in a critical condition at the Royal Victoria Hospital.

Three people have been arrested after a man was attacked in Co Antrim on Sunday. The victim, believed to be in his early 30s, was found by police at the side of a road in The Cloney area in Glenarm at around 3am. He sustained serious injuries and is currently being treated in hospital.

Man Seriously Assaulted In Co Antrim
A 25-year-old man has been seriously attacked in Co Antrim. The assault occurred in the Hampton Crescent area in Larne at around 12.35am on Saturday. Five masked men armed with baseball bats attacked the victim and he sustained fractures to his arm and leg. He is currently being treated in hospital.

Co Antrim Man Mark Allen Wins Masters Title
Co Antrim man Mark Allen has claimed a Masters title with a 10 - 7 victory over Kyren Wilson at Alexandra Palace, London. He is the third player from NI to scoop the title and the first since Denis Taylor over 30 years ago. The world number eight also pocketed the £200,000 prize money as well as the Paul Hunter trophy.

Man Dies In Co Antrim Crash
A man, aged in his 60s, has died in a crash in Co Antrim. The collision happened on Main Street in Broughshane just after 9.20am on Tuesday, 16 January. The road was closed for some time, however it has since been reopened. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Arson Released On Bail
A man arrested on suspicion of arson in Finaghy has been released on bail pending further enquiries. Two people were rescued from a blaze at a house in the area on Sunday, 07 January. The fire was reported at around 2.30am and emergency services attended the scene. A 32-year-old man and a woman in her 60s were rescued from the property.

Sexual assault on teenager 'horrific'
An Alliance councillor has described an incident in which a teenage woman was sexually assaulted in Bangor as "horrific". The incident occurred at around 9.40pm last night when a 19-year-old was attacked as she walked through Byransford Meadow in the town.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was seriously assaulted in Belfast on Saturday 13 June. The woman was attacked outside commercial premises on the Newtownards Road. Police are trying to trace two women who helped the victim. The woman is believed to have been seriously injured.

Fresh McDaid Arrest Made
Police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the murder of Coleraine father-of-four Kevin McDaid. Detectives detained the man in the town last night. This brings the total number of arrests over the killing to 25. Mr McDaid was beaten to death by a loyalist mob in May.

Teenage Girl Seriously Injured And PSNI Officers Attacked In North Belfast
A teenage girl has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in north Belfast. Eight PSNI officers were also injured after being attacked by bricks and bolts on the Twelfth night. The 16-year-old got trapped underneath the car, which was driving out of control, on the Crumlin Road, it is understood.
