Concorde arrives in NI for last time
Concorde arrived in Northern Ireland today as part of its farewell UK tour.
The supersonic jet, which arrived at Belfast International Airport shortly before lunchtime on Tuesday, is set for retirement on Friday.
Hundreds of people from across the country travelled to see the plane which arrived in the province on the second leg of its week-long tour.
Tuesday's flight will see 20 competition winners from Northern Ireland enjoy a champagne flight to Heathrow before travelling at twice the speed of sound - 1350mph - over the Bay of Biscay.
The plane, which already flew on a return trip to Birmingham on Monday, will take in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Manchester before finally arriving at Heathrow on Friday for decommissioning.
The jet, which has seen active service for 27 years, is being retired because of escalating running costs and a drop in passenger numbers.
An Air France Concorde crashed into a building just outside Paris in 2000 killing 109 people and four on the ground.
